Did you know that over half of the world’s forests have gone? Rainforests are in worse shape with just 3% remaining. Not cool.
Rainforests are one of the most important natural resources left on Earth, giving us clean air to breathe, a stable climate, and a habitat for thousands of unique animals. The Daintree Lowland Rainforest is one of the oldest rainforests on Earth, having survived undisturbed for over 120 million years. We, alongside our planet partner HalfCut, want to keep it that way.
This month, the awesome humans at HalfCut are raising awareness and funds to protect the Daintree rainforest for good. We’ve donated $10,000 to the cause (taking us over $100,000 donated in total now 🎉) and told them our community are legends and might wanna help out too.
HalfCut works in 2 important ways:
- Drawing attention to losing half the world’s forests by changing half of your appearance, even just for a day.
- Buying back Daintree rainforest land to remove the threat of deforestation and repair damage from past development. The land will be handed back to its Traditional Owners, the Eastern Kuku Yalanji people (Bama), supporting them in caring for country.
It’s not just humans that can alter half their appearance for this amazing cause. Join us by going “Half Floof” with your dog: shampoo, colour, style or clip half your dog’s fur and share it on your socials. The more creative the better!
