Dog Food For Groodles

With tons of energy, large (and fast-growing) bones and a higher-chance of hip and joint issues than other breeds, the perfect Groodle dog food is high in quality meat protein, well balanced and low in inflammatory ingredients.

Scratch has helped thousands of Groodles thrive thanks to:

Using low-inflammation food without all the processing

Why do so many modern dogs suffer from skin & stomach issues? Cheap, powdered and over-processed ingredients are a common culprit. ‘Pet food meat’ is used in nearly every dog food out there, and is typically the lowest quality option (often with more bone and carcass than meat and organs).

Scratch uses meat from the human food supply chain and tops off each recipe with healthy oils for a resilient gut, shiny coat and tough immune system.

A magic 4-oil blend to maintain the signature Groodle coat

Our dog food for Groodles includes healthy, hearty sources of Omega-3 & Omega-6 fatty acids to keep your Groodle’s coat in tip-top shape, reduce shedding and moisturise flaky skin.

Scratch includes stacks (15-16%) of nourishing fat from salmon, coconut, flaxseed and sunflower oils. Itchy skin and a dull coat becomes a thing of the past. 👋

Nourishing vitamins, minerals and supplements for joint health

Groodles need special protection to protect from hip & elbow joint conditions. Every Scratch recipe is packed full of essential vitamins and minerals to keep joints & bones healthy long into the golden years.

Kick joint protection up a notch by choosing the Kangaroo recipe – with added glucosamine, chondroitin supplements and hydrolysed collagen, all to nourish joint health.

Family in kitchen

Groodles should eat premium grub, human-grade meat and a recipe that caters to their special dietary needs

Your dog’s food should be doing more than keeping them alive. It should be sustaining them with top-quality ingredients, cutting out filler and enriching their health with wholefoods.

Dry food, wet food, freshly prepared or home-cooked – most of the dog food brands out there miss the mark.

✅ Scratch is formulated by master qualified nutritionists to meet all the nutritional requirements Groodles need, as set out in the AAFCO guidelines

✅ Each recipe is chockfull of premium, human-grade meat and real veggies (not powdered crap)

✅ Sustain your Groodle all day with low-GI energy sources… rather than burning and crashing

Freshly made, low-processed Groodle dog food that’s actually good for your dog

The majority of Aussie dogs eat dry dog food (or kibble) as part or all of their diet, but it turns out that a lot of it isn’t doing old mate any good.

Not because dry dog food is bad – that’s just the way it’s prepared – but because big dog food companies often do things on the cheap, using high GI ingredients, straight in/straight out fillers, and very little actual meat (plus additives so it lasts longer on supermarket shelves). Eaten regularly, this gets your woofer’s body out of whack and can cause short-term upset and long-term illness.

Scratch puts better ingredients into our dog food for Groodles, and you get a healthier dog out. Pretty simple but business gets in the way. So, is dry dog food bad? No – much of it is but Scratch is the dry dog food should be.

Hungry dog

Why kibble vs. raw food, chilled food or freeze-dried food?

Dry dog food for Groodles is the most convenient, preserved by dehydration and receives a quick temperature kill-step to ensure all microorganisms are eliminated.

Compare Scratch to:

ingredients-meat illustration

Raw food

Raw food diets are great as they have no processing, but it can be hard to get a complete and balanced diet from raw food alone. It also has other drawbacks like being fresh only for a few days, potential microorganisms such as e-coli, salmonella etc. Cooked protein is also easier to digest than raw.

Wet food

Wet dog food is processed at a high temperature for a long period while sealed to ensure that all micro-organisms are killed. It generally tastes great but contains mostly water and a lot of gelling agents to make the gravy. The term ‘what goes in comes out’ applies well to wet food, and can be the culprit for less-than-ideal number 2s.

Freeze-dried food

Freeze-dried grub is generally higher quality than a lot of the dog food out there, but comes with its own drawbacks. Freeze-drying alone isn’t an effective way to kill all pathogens, so carries similar risks to raw. It’s also crazy expensive.

Or chilled food?

Like dry dog food, chilled dog food has the kill step to eradicate pathogens. It has a short shelf life and is often treated with a lot of preservatives to last the time from factory to home.

Thank you so much Scratch!

Writing this review has made me realise that Kramer our 11 yr old Schmoodle no longer itches himself like he has been for last 5 years!! OMG!! this is awesome!! No more $180 injections from vet every 2 months!!

Awesome Aussie made and sourced dog food. Thank you so much!!

I’m never turning back!

I was having trouble finding my usual dog kibble in stores, let alone finding time to actually go out to look for it. My sister uses Scratch for her pup and raved about it so I thought I’d give it ago! And well… I’m never turning back. Scratch kibble is a super high quality food for my Groodle, he loves the taste and the kibble size is perfect for his food puzzle toys. The auto delivery is an absolute life changer!! And a huge bonus is that I’m supporting an Aussie company who uses Australian ingredients and donates part of their revenue towards environmental and dog welfare charities.

He’s loved it right from the start

I first heard of Scratch from a chat within a social media and decided to look in to it. I liked everything about it, especially that it’s Australian made & is delivered to your door. I transitioned our Groodle puppy straight away and he has loved it right from the start.
