Using low-inflammation food without all the processing

Why do so many modern poodles suffer from skin & stomach issues? Cheap, powdered and over-processed ingredients are a common culprit. ‘Pet food meat’ is used in nearly every dog food out there, and is typically the lowest quality option (often with more bone and carcass than nutritious meat and organs).

Scratch’s poodle dog food uses meat from the human food supply chain and tops off each recipe with healthy oils for a resilient gut, shiny coat & tough immune system.

A magic 4-oil blend to maintain the signature Poodle coat

Healthy, hearty sources of Omega-3 & Omega-6 fatty acids to keep your Poodle’s coat in tip-top shape, reduce shedding and moisturise flaky skin.

Scratch includes stacks (15-16%) of nourishing fat from salmon, coconut, flaxseed and sunflower oils. Itchy skin and a dull coat becomes a thing of the past. 👋

Low GI superfoods for sustainable energy 🏃

Poodles have stacks of energy and need slow-release foods to keep them up & active all day… without the crash and burn.

We believe in the Scratch approach: high protein, fat and fibre-packed veggies to keep your Poodle full and encourage a stable release of energy.

Family in kitchen

Poodles should eat premium grub, human-grade meat and a recipe that caters to their special dietary needs

Your Poodle dog food should be doing more than keeping them alive. It should be sustaining them with top-quality ingredients, cutting out filler and enriching their health with wholefoods.

Dry food, wet food, freshly prepared or home-cooked, most of the dog food brands out there miss the mark.

✅ Scratch is formulated by master qualified nutritionists to meet all the nutritional requirements Poodles need, as set out in the AAFCO guidelines

✅ Each recipe is chockfull of premium, human-grade meat and real veggies (not powdered crap)

✅ Sustain your Poodle all day with low-GI energy sources… rather than burning and crashing

Freshly made, low-processed dog food for Poodles that’s actually good for your dog

The majority of Aussie dogs eat dry dog food (or kibble) as part or all of their diet, but it turns out that a lot of it isn’t doing old mate any good.

Not because dry dog food is bad – that’s just the way it’s prepared – but because big dog food companies often do things on the cheap, using high GI ingredients, straight in/straight out fillers, and very little actual meat (plus additives so it lasts longer on supermarket shelves). Eaten regularly, this gets your woofer’s body out of whack and can cause short-term upset and long-term illness.

Scratch puts better ingredients into our Poodle dog food, and you get a healthier dog out. Pretty simple but often business gets in the way. So, is dry dog food bad? No – much of it is but Scratch is the dry dog food should be.

Hungry dog

Why kibble vs. raw food, chilled food or freeze-dried food?

Dry dog food for Poodles is the most convenient, preserved by dehydration and receives a quick temperature kill-step to ensure all microorganisms are eliminated.

Compare Scratch to:

ingredients-meat illustration

Raw food

Raw food diets are great as they have no processing, but it can be hard to get a complete and balanced diet from raw food alone. It also has other drawbacks like being fresh only for a few days, potential microorganisms such as e-coli, salmonella etc. Cooked protein is also easier to digest than raw.

Wet food

Wet dog food is processed at a high temperature for a long period while sealed to ensure that all micro-organisms are killed. It generally tastes great but contains mostly water and a lot of gelling agents to make the gravy. The term ‘what goes in comes out’ applies well to wet food, and can be the culprit for less-than-ideal number 2s.

Freeze-dried food

Freeze-dried grub is generally higher quality than a lot of the dog food out there, but comes with its own drawbacks. Freeze-drying alone isn’t an effective way to kill all pathogens, so carries similar risks to raw. It’s also crazy expensive.

Or chilled food?

Like dry dog food, chilled dog food has the kill step to eradicate pathogens. It has a short shelf life and is often treated with a lot of preservatives to last the time from factory to home.

Don’t just take our word for it!

We all love Scratch

Felix is a pretty discerning standard poodle and very choosy when it comes to his food. But Scratch food finds his approval. He has been happily eating it since he was a puppy. And we are happy that we can offer him food of good quality, made ethically locally. It’s also very handy that the food just appears regularly in handy bags. So, we all love it.

They both devour Scratch!

I have a toy poodle pup & 12yr old Cavoodle that both devour Scratch. I love that both the puppy & mature age dog can eat the same food. The puppy has to chew slowly b/c of the size of the kibble but better for its digestion and my poor Cavoodle does not have many teeth left but can still eat and enjoy the food. I love the measuring cup, the delivery at the door the calculator for the puppy. Love it.

Happy, healthy and with a shiny smooth coat.

I have a 7 month old standard poodle puppy and have just successfully transitioned him to Scratch food without any problems.. He loves it! He is vital, happy and healthy with shiny soft coat. Stools are excellent. I highly recommend this excellent product.
