In-House Vet
$110,000 p/a pro-rata, 2-4 day week, Melbourne-based.
Perfect for reducing in-clinic time.
Geez, our team will love you. We have a strong nutrition team driving our product development (including some big new ones soon), but we’ve been wanting to hire an amazing vet for years.
As our only in-house vet, you’ll help across customer service, content and new product development to ensure that we continue our quest to be Australia’s most trusted dog food brand.
Whether it’s in front of a camera or working within our customer happiness team for specialist enquiries, you will help dog owners understand if Scratch is a good fit for their dog, what else could be if not us, and make sure that everything is working smoothly.
THE DEETS:
We run our business at a calm and sustainable pace (we’re more of a golden retriever than kelpie), are profitable and independent, so we hope Scratch is a gentle change from the emotional and fast-paced clinic environment.
Your key tasks will be:
- Responding to specialist customer health & nutrition enquiries (via email and occasionally phone).
- Proactively following up particular customers and going the extra mile.
- Keeping on top of the latest canine nutritional research.
- Sharing and documenting your knowledge with the team.
- Contributing to new product development.
- Working with our creative crew to record video content sharing your knowledge and communicating Scratch’s range.
This job is perfect for someone that loves dogs (and their humans), and genuinely wants to share knowledge and help people. It’s not a churn and burn role, but a position in a young, fast-growth brand seeking to provide an amazing and trustworthy experience. We want to support your growth and are excited to see what you notice and test to improve our customer happiness.
Most of our team work 4 day weeks, so we’re totally open to you working 2-4 days with us and still practicing in the clinic. We’re flexible for the right person!
The Position
This mixed role reports to our Customer Service Team Leader but collaborates across the company.
The right person will be:
- At the mid/senior level of their careers, with at least 3 years in general practice.
- Proudly holding Veterinary Science qualifications from a university accredited by the AVBC.
- Particularly interested in feeding and nutrition.
- A strong problem solver and holistically minded.
- A lot like a good dog (friendly, energetic, fun, smart & loyal).
- Open minded with a love of learning and educating.
- An excellent written and verbal communicator (English, with a little emoji).
- Exceptionally helpful, but happy to stand up for themselves and what is fair.
- Self-motivated, thriving with space and responsibility for results.
- Calm and not flustered by customer problems or misunderstandings.
- Full of empathy for the customers point of view and situation.
- Comfortable in front of a camera.
- A dog person (of course).
